Astronomy-what it Can be

Astronomy can be defined as the branch of science that deals with the study of natures and motion of celestial bodies like stars, planets and galaxies. There are yet different definitions for Astronomy. This includes the study of matter and objects outside earth’s atmosphere and having their own physical and chemical properties. Some different views include –Astronomy is the study of everything. This is because astronomy is the study of universe and everything is part of the universe.

One can say that all these definitions are correct and hence there are many sub fields within astronomy. Cosmologists, Astrometrists, Planetologist, Radio astronomers, Mathematical astronomers are some among these sub divisions. Cosmologists study universe as a whole including its origin and beginning. Planetologists do study about all those planets with in the solar system and those orbiting distant stars. Astrometrists calculate distances connected with universe. Again Radio astronomers use radio telescopes to study the universe. Numbers, calculations and statistics are used by mathematical astronomers in order to explain universe.

The Use and Control of Biological Weapons

Biological warfare (previously called germ warfare) is the use of disease causing microorganisms as military weapons. One of the earliest recorded uses of biological weapons occurred in the fourteenth century when invading Asian armies used a device called a catapult to hurl bodies of plague victims over city walls to infect the resisting towns’ people. It is thought that this practice resulted in the spread of the Black Death throughout Europe, killing millions of people in four years. Toward the end of the French and Indian Wars in North America (1689–1763), a British military officer is said to have given blankets infected with smallpox germs to a tribe of Native Americans, resulting in their infection with the often fatal disease. In more modern times, an outbreak of inhalation anthrax (a disease caused by inhaling the spores of the anthrax bacterium) in a city in Russia resulted in over 1,000 deaths in 1979. It is thought that this outbreak may have resulted from an accident at a biological warfare facility. Biological warfare is among the least commonly used military strategies. Most military leaders have been reluctant to release microorganisms that might cause an uncontrolled outbreak of disease, affecting not only the enemy but friendly populations as well.

How To Overcome Fear of Public Speaking ? Public Speaking Phobia

Some people are stressed just with the thought of standing up and speaking in public. They avoid public speaking like a plague. It’s hard for them to have all eyes on them. Whether they work alone or with large numbers of people, they would have to speak in public if they want to accomplish certain tasks. Also, one cannot be a leader and achieve meaningful accomplishments if they themselves are afraid to speak in public.

One of the main things to remember in order to figure out a way on how to overcome fear of public speaking is that it does not have to be stressful. Understand what the cause of the stress is and where it is coming from. You would also have to remember the key principles. This will give you the confidence that you need when speaking in public.

The Role of Biology in Environment

Biology is the study of life and comprises all levels from the molecular to the global. Biology is the study living organisms, their organization and their functions and biology is a large part of the way our environment evolved from simple organisms and is thus intimately part of our environment. Biology is a very broad field, covering the minute workings of chemical machines inside our cells, to broad scale concepts of ecosystems and global climate change. Biologists study subjects which range from intimate details of the human brain, the composition of our genes, and even the functioning of our reproductive system to the building blocks of the simplest organisms on earth which created our oxygen rich atmosphere capable of supporting higher life forms. Without biological processes you and I would not exist, nor the planet as we know it.

Biological systems in contrast to physical are vastly more complex, their function based on small numbers of units (atoms, molecules, cells) that are not at equilibrium. There are no biological laws of nature the way we find them in physics; the first and second law of thermodynamics, Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle, Newton’s law of gravity etc.
